Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest IN
Scholarship application

The Construction Advancement Foundation is delighted to invest in the future of the construction industry by awarding scholarships to Northwest Indiana students who are pursuing a career in construction management, engineering, or a related field within construction.  The scholarships for undergraduates are $2,500 per year and can be renewed for up to four years for a maximum of $10,000.


  • Recipients must be Indiana residents of Lake, Porter, La Porte, Newton, Jasper, or Starke Counties

  • Recipients must be pursuing a career in construction or related field (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, etc.)

  • High school GPA > 3.0

  • Pass an annual hair follicle drug test

  • Evaluation of applicants participation in extra curricular activities in school and/or community

  • Recipient must be U.S. Citizen

  • Full or part-time students are eligible. Part-time students will be funded on a proportional basis

  • No restriction as to school the student attends (applications from students attending online schools are discouraged from applying)


Scholarship funds are restricted to tuition, fees, books, and room and board only. Payments will be made to student with submission of receipts, or directly to the school upon receipt of an invoice.


  • Completed application form

  • Letters of Recommendation from 3 people (teacher, employer, coach, scout leader, church leader, etc.)

  • Copy of SAT/ACT scores

  • Proof of acceptance / enrollment in college / university

  • Declaration of major field

  • An essay on “Why I am interested in a career in the Construction Industry. (300 words)

Caitlyn's Cause

Please write an essay on Childhood Cancer. (Minimum 500 words)

-interview a child who has/is battling cancer
-interview a family of a childhood who is/has battled cancer
-Discuss the lack of funding for childhood cancer
-Discuss why a cure is needed for childhood cancer
-Other relevant topics 

Please include a cover sheet on your essay stating the following:

Extra Curricular Clubs/Sports/Organizations

Coca Cola Scholars
Application is due at the end of Oct. This is a $20,000 scholarship. 

2021 Connie Yagelski-Marhanka Music Scholarship 

Beginning in 2007 the New Day Foundation offered two $500.00 college scholarships in the field of music. With much interest and generous donations, we are proud to announce we are increasing the scholarships to $1000.00.

 We will award these scholarships to graduating seniors of LaPorte County who are including music in their studies towards a degree or career.

These students must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduating Senior from a LaPorte County School to include:

    LaPorte, Michigan City, Westville, Marquette, New Prairie, LaCrosse, La Lumiere and South-Central area schools.

  • Complete a Scholarship application
  • Submit copy of High School Transcript
  • Complete a written essay

Your essay may consist of any amount of words on any subject you choose.

This essay should briefly describe how you intend to use music in your continued education.

- Section based on good citizenship and academic achievement

2020 Scholarship Applications Available January March 2021 The Healthcare Foundation of La Porte (HFL) takes great pride in offering scholarship awards to students in our community. In addition to multiple scholarships available through the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte, we are pleased to present additional scholarship opportunities funded by the La Porte Hospital Auxiliary. A total of $100,000 will be awarded in 2020, with individuals receiving scholarships that range from $1,000 to a full semester tuition.

  1. Graduating (2020) high school senior pursuing a two- or four-year degree in an agriculture and/or science major.
  2. Eligible applicants must reside in a qualified county in one of the following states CO, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, NE, OH, SD, TN, WI, WY
  3. Applications due January 31, 2021
  4. Winners will be notified by March 1, 2021

Winners will be asked to provide information on university enrollment.
